When you draw up an international contract, very often you adopt as terms of payment the Documetary Letter of Credit. We would like to give you some suggestions in order to avoid troubles and loss of money. First of all when you receive L/C fom your bank, you should check very carefully this document, as you have to follow up all requests.
Following just few suggestions:
Upon receipt of L/C if you can not met some requests, please ask your customer to amend the credit accordingly.
If your L/C expires before the time you can ship the cargo, you should ask your client to extend the L/C validity time.
It is important to supply to your bank all and well done documents, infact for each discrepancies between L/C and documents you will loose money.
Usually the L/C are issued in accordance with the “international chamber of commerce Pubblication nr. 500”. You should ask copy of it to your local Chamber of Commerce, it will be of great help!

For shippers The L/C is a safe form of payment, as it always guarantee the payment of supply. Unfortunately the consignee is not really protected, infact the cargo shipped can not be checked, neither by the forwarders, neither by shipping lines, and it should happen that the importer will receive goods of bad quality.
So if you have to buy some materials abroad try to chose good and reliable suppliers, and please check carefully cargo quality upon receipt.

The Bill of Loading, the document issued for sea shipments, declares and describes the cargo shipped as confirmed by the supplier. So the forwarder completely has to trust in what the shipper delcares.
The contract of carriage (the Bill of Lading) covers responsabilities of carriers but usually these liabilities are much lower than real cargo value.
In order to avoid damages, follow up these few rules:
First of all if your contact is based on “Incoterm 2000” you should read carefully the part or risks, try to issue an insurance policy for the door to door domicile, or at least for the part of transport under your liability.

Logimar decided to put its proprietary software “Full Filled” online for free use.
Full Filled is a dedicated 3D nesting software for optimizing the loading of standard shipping containers. Initially intended to facilitate, speed up and generally render more efficient the preparation of load-sheets in its operations department, Logimar has decided to make the tool available to its customers, to its worldwide agents, to new export companies and - why not - to its competitors as well.
Full Filled is a gift to new businesses and above all to those that are looking to export. It is intended for whoever would like to make their work easier, by helping them in their container loading process, without wasting valuable space and time.
The “Full Filled” (Beta 1.0) software creates three-dimensional color images of the cargo placed in a virtual container, thus helping the users to load their real containers in the best possible way. The software, which can be accessed freely on the Logimar website, is a reliable instrument and is a happy mix between easy-to-use, entry-level software that performs the same function but only with an improbable homogeneity of cargo and much more complex and professional software which requires a major financial investment.
As always, efficiency in synonymous with competitiveness and money saving. Less time spent on preparing load-sheets and less wasted space inside the container means higher profits, as well as lower CO2 emissions and less pollution in the atmosphere. This is why Logimar has decided to release its software free of charge: the benefits will be reaped by the entire network of small and medium enterprises in Lombardy, which Logimar also belongs to.
“Full filled” has been created with a mix of client-side and server-side technologies (JavaScript, PHP and Flash). It offers a three-dimensional color image of the cargo loaded into a virtual container, so that the best possible loading arrangement may be immediately visualized.

Logimar ha deciso di mettere “on line” gratuitamente “Full Filled”, un software per l’ottimizzazione del carico all’interno dei container marittimi standard. Inizialmente pensato per rendere più facile, efficiente e rapido il lavoro all’interno dei propri reparti operativi, Logimar ha quindi deciso di metterlo a disposizione anche dei propri clienti, delle aziende esportatrici (soprattutto di quelle che si apprestano a diventarlo), dei propri agenti nel mondo e – perché no? – dei propri concorrenti.
Full Filled – letteralmente “riempito pieno” - è un omaggio soprattutto alle nuove aziende, a quelle che si apprestano ad esportare e che grazie a questo software on line avranno un aiuto nel caricare i container senza sprecare prezioso spazio e riducendo i tempi di sosta degli stessi.
Il programma (versione Beta 1.0) gratuitamente fruibile sul web dal sito Logimar.it è una affidabile via di mezzo tra i “giochini” che svolgono la stessa funzione solo a fronte di una improbabile omogeneità del carico e i software assai più complessi e professionali che stilano il piano di carico a fronte invece di un investimento economico importante per le Piccole e Medie Imprese.
L’efficienza è sinonimo, quanto mai in questo caso, di risparmio e di competitività: inferiore il tempo per studiare il “Piano di carico”, minore lo spazio perso all’interno del container, maggiori saranno i profitti e – non da ultimo – minori saranno le emissioni di CO2 e di inquinanti in atmosfera.
